It seems that I’ve pushed myself a little too far.
In August of 2005, I was doing some wiring on the outside of a house. I was on the ladder, and I guess that I didn’t have the cam properly hooked onto the rung of the ladder and it slipped down a full rung…. with me on it.. I didn’t realize at the time that I was injured from it. In fact, it took me two months to find it. About a week after the incident, I started feeling a pinched nerve in my leg. After 6 weeks of it getting worse, I went to the doctor to find out what was wrong, when he told me about my back. I went 2 months without knowing that I had hurt myself. I thought, at the time, that I had just scared myself..
Over the last couple of years I’ve gone to physio, on and off, and have been able to manage the injury and pain for a while. Sometimes it gets worse, but for the most part, I’ve learned how to live with the injury.
I have no idea exactly what I did to re-aggravate it over the weekend, but I have seriously hurt myself. So, I went to the doctor, he checked a few things like range of motion and checked if I had numbness in my foot. The bottom line is that he told me that I had to take time off work to get better. So, now it’s physio 3 times a week, x-rays, and a CAT Scan. Not exactly part of my original summer plans.
The positive side is that it’s been years since I’ve had some sort of summer vacation. Unfortunately, I can’t do very much. I can’t stand still at all without it hurting a lot, part of my left foot is numb..
I guess there is no skydiving for me this summer!
